"What Local Actions Can Tackle Global Problems" Special Public Lecture by Akira Sakano Chair, Board of Directors, Zero Waste Academy, Japan

-Outline of the waste problems in Japan and the world
-How the world is tackling sustainability issues, specifically on waste (including SDGs)
-Our local action policy and practices-case of Kamikatsu's Zero Waste
-What we could and can do


Bio:
Akira Sakano drives planning and implementation of Zero Waste policies for local governments and businesses and organizes the Zero Waste Accreditation system for businesses to brand efforts towards the Zero Waste goal. She has held various non-profit and corporate management roles in Japan, Mongolia, and the Philippines. In 2014, she joined the organization Zero Waste Academy. She was the Co-Chair of the 2019 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting.
