Okayama University Holds "Study in Japan x Career Webinar" for ASEAN

On May 13, Okayama University held an online seminar for ASEAN people who are interested in Studying or working in Japan as a part of Study in Japan Global Network Project in ASEAN commissioned by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). The purpose of the webinar was to encourage to study in Japan and provide comprehensive support from the stage of studying in Japan to working in Japan by sharing relative information from that viewpoint.
 
At the seminar, we had guest speakers from corporations which have been actively hiring employees from ASEAN; Mr. ITO Hiroyasu from SYNNEX Japan Corporation and Mr. MATSUOKA Jumpei from Arts&Crafts Company. Additionally, two employees at their companies from ASEAN also shared their experiences working at the companies. The talks were very informative and covered wide range of topics useful to young people from ASEAN hoping to study and work in Japan; including how to design a career in Japan after studying in Japan, skill and competency required to work in Japan, Japanese language learning, and life in Japan.

Afterwards, Study in Japan Associate Coordinator Dr. Thu Thu Nwe Aye gave a brief overview of how to Study in Japan. Lastly, Associate Professor MOHRI Takami from the Global Human Resource Development, conducted a mock lecture on business Japanese and honorifics (KEIGO), which is vital for anyone who plans to work in Japan. Associate Professor MOHRI also introduced the Foundation Course for Post Graduate Studies at Okayama University and other beneficial information to study at Okayama University. 483 people joined this seminar (294 joined the livestream on YouTube) and many contributed to the lively Q&A session. The informative webinar was well-received and turned out to be a fruitful experience for all participants.
